Great White shark attacks tourist cage in South Africa

I feel that sharks pain. Can of tuna, bread, mayo no can opener.

Tourists in Mossel Bay, South Africa, knew they would be coming face to face with one of the ocean’s most impressive — and notorious — animals when they signed up to go shark cage diving, but their encounter turned out to be more intimate than expected when a great white shark began gnawing vigorously at the bars of their cage.

“It was quite the up close and personal experience!” said Hillary Rae Petroski who posted a video of the encounter on YouTube.

In a scene reminiscent of the 1975 film Jaws, footage shows the 3.5-metre shark gnawing at a buoy at the side of the cage and trying to force its nose through the bars of the cage as people can be heard screaming.

Petroski, a volunteer at Cango Wildlife Ranch about 100 km north of Mossel Bay who was taking part in the dive on her day off, wrote on her YouTube post that the video was shot with a GoPro Hero 4 camera.

“The shark was even closer than he appears, ” she said. ” I apologize for the shakiness. ”
